I have just written an HTML document showing some of the artifacts created when resizing images and rotating them. Film does not suffer from these problems, but any digital system using a fixed regular lattice will. If the digital camera resolution and digital projection system have different native resolutions, resampling artifacts will be present. The rotations are shown to explain why digital pictures of horizontal window blinds, fine patterns on clothing, and other fine regular lattice structures being filmed have such strange moire patterns on them. http://www.itsc.uah.edu/~criswell/devel/test_patterns/ Comments? Ideas? Any ideas you'd like me to play with? Evans A Criswell
