Got a complaint from one of our theatres that, during a staff screening of "Scary Movie 2" last night, the SDDS sync was out quite a bit.

The same theatre using the SDDS, but running a different movie, this afternoon, ran fine with everything in sync. This leads me to beleive it is a problem with the print.

They are using Dolby SRD for "Scary Movie 2" (in another auditorium) with no problems.

Anyone else run into SDDS sync problems with "Scary Movie 2"?

Rick,

Before the print is blamed, in that auditorium where they had the problem, is there any digital penthouses below the SDDS reader? If so, I would say it is most likely the person who threaded the film did not bypass / thread through one of the readers below.

I asked about the possibility of mis-threading Brad, but apparently it was the same person (manager) who threaded up both times. I wasn't there, however, to verify this.
In any event, these use the Kelmar docker system, so there was only the one digital reader in place.

Was it out of sync the whole time or in certain parts of it?

I saw it last night and the trailers and most of the movie was just fine, but i noticed a couple of parts that seemed out of sync.
I dont remember specifically which parts, but I seem to remember a couple of sound effects and something Tori Spelling said (I dont think anyone would remember anything she said).

The one specific thing that i do remember was the sounds of the basketballs in the commercial parody didnt match up with what was shot, but that could have just been bad shooting.

I watched the beginning again today in two different auditoriums and it was fine and didnt hear any complaints, so Im going to go with Brads suggestion that it may have been threaded incorrectly if it was out of sync the whole time.
