Well, more channels are a good thing, but I think the general opinion is that the $2600 (or so, including labor and parts, etc.) for an EX unit is better spent on other things.If all your other sound and picture equipment is up-to-date; sure why not. But if you've got lenses that are over 20 years old; a screen that saw, "Apocolypse Now" the first time around; projectors that shutter-ghost; can't make 16fL of brightness on screen; etc., etc., than fix those first.
