I know the older 2 drive DTS units will work when mounted vertically so that the face is pointing up. Anyone tried this with the new three drive 6D units? (Very limited rack-space here).

I'm not even gonna point out the irony.

A pain in the ass. We had these in roll-around carts that were face up. There are little clips in the drive trays that are supposed to keep the discs from falling out, but they never seemed to work. When the discs were ejected, they slipped out and fell *into* the unit, in the little gap between the drive and the face plate.

We ended up just picking up the carts and laying them on their side on top of the consoles, sound racks or floor.

No rack space? I had wall mounted racks in another theater that the DTS 6D was too deep for. I just set it on a popcorn oil can or milk crate under the sound rack and ran the cables up through holes in the bottom of the rack.

OK, thanks for the warning, Adam. Will probably go the milk-crate route.

Geez, spend about 80 bucks a unit and get yourself a small rack...even if it has to sit on the floor.

It will work but you must be sure to lock the discs in place when loading them into the drawers. Otherwise, the discs won't play.
