History was in the making on Thursday when the first light projected from the Philips DP70 35/70mm now installed in the Pictureville Cinema (home the UK Cinerama & Widescreen Festival) in Bradford England.

One of the first films to be screened will be "Patten:Lust For Glory" in it's original 70mm Dimension D150 format!.

There is still time to buy tickets for the Bradford Film Festival and Widscreen Weekend to witness this unique occasion.

Congratulations! Way to go!
How great it must be to be part of a festival
or cinema museum presentation, where your dedication
is really appreciated and you are one with your
audience in love of cinema!

This machine (SN 1622) ran it's first film February 6, 1961 in Odense (Birthplace of H C Andersen) in Denmark. "Porgy and Bess" in Todd-AO. See this link.

The machine was donated to the museum (November 1998) in Bradford by Nordisk Film, my company here in Copenhagen. See this link.

I look forward to see the result next Friday.

Wasn't there a 35/70 machine there before? What did this one replace? Are you using the Super Curvulon or more modern optics?

BTW, I can't help a little nitpicking: The word "its" only gets an apostrophe when it's (<--see) a contraction of "it is." A simple possessive would just be "its" without one, just like his and hers don't have one either.

The DP70 replaced the 16mm. The Vic 8 is still there. The D-150 lens is there curtesy of Dick Vetter.

Congratulations, Bradford

Hope, You will be as happy as i've been now for almost 28 years with a pair of those in the house. DP 70 - 40 years old or more - still is the one and only REEL thing !

What type and what wattage of lamp are you running on the DP-70?
Nows the time once and for all to have a shoot out(literally) between the Vic 8 and a DP-70!!
