What movies? Brand new prints, or previously projected? What is the relative humidity in the projection room?Sometimes, freshly processed prints can leave gelatin emulsion skivings the first few passes through a projector. During processing, the emulsion swells, and sometimes doesn't shrink back to its original size after drying, leaving a "proud" edge that gets scuffed off by the edgeguides and sprocket teeth. Usually these skivings come from the top layers, so they are magenta in color. High humidity can aggravate the situation. It would be a very unusual coincidence to find prints in Florida and in South Africa having the same problem on the same day, as different labs would likely be involved. ------------------ John P.
