Seven Channel stereo plus 3 strip projection, I wonder how it will measure up to Paul Allens Seattle Cinerama?

The Cinerama logo is squeezed on the ArcLight homepage hope the screen isnt: http://www.arclightcinemas.com/homepage.jsp

This weekend in Los Angeles I will be attending the AES ( Audio Engineering Society ) convention, the SMPTE seminar + the evening show of Cinerama on Saturday evening. It will be interesting to see how the solid screen versus the louver set up works. My friends at the Dolby L.A. office said the Cinemrama trailer that has been showing on Friday and Saturday night has been spectacular. The last time I saw this film was 42 years ago but impressed me enough for this then 10 year old to get a tour of the booths and backstage from the union guys who knew me then from my other visits to local cinemas.

I was fortunate enough to experience "How the West Was Won" and "Seven Wonders of the World" in 3-strip Cinerama at the New Neon Theatre in Dayton Ohio a few years ago. The real surprise was the realism of the 7-channel audio, which was often recorded as such. The "Indian Wedding Parade" sequence in Seven Wonders put you right in the middle of the crowded street, with both sight and sound. Even closing your eyes, "you were there", despite the limitations of a 40+ year old magnetic recording.

I had the pleasure of experiencing Cinerama twice this year. I was able to see some clips at Bradford England in March and we had a special Cinerama installed in Telluride this year for the Telluride Film Festival.

I'm 40-years-old and have been hearing about Cinerama all of my conscious life. I'm glad I was finally able to see it in person.

I too made the trip to Dayton a few years back and saw THIS IS CINERAMA and HOW THE WEST WAS WON in Cinerama at the New Neon.
John did a marvelous job there and it was quite a sight to see and hear. I hear, through the rumor mill, there are problems with the restored print of THIS IS CINERAMA in that the color has faded so bad it can't be corrected for all 3 strips, or something along that line.
We were hoping the Seattle Cinerama would play that for the 50th but have been hearing these rumors that might not happen.
You know they did run John Harvey's prints a couple of years ago there and played to a packed house. I really would like my children and several of my movie buff friends to experience Cinerama so I'm hoping something does happen soon.
