Basically the fax tells you not to run the film in SDDS because of a "out of sync" issue with reel #6

Oops!!!

That error must have happened when the sound negative for that reel was recorded. Sometimes, happens, with not enough time to correct it. At least they found the problem soon enough to fax a warning to the theatres receiving those defective reels.

They must have fixed it, because none of my prints had these problems

The out of sync #6 Sound Negative has been replaced but some prints struck from the faulty negative got sent out.

We got a sheet in both cans of RED OCTOBER when we ran it as a Sneak(if I remember the correct title) that said that it was not to be played in SDDS. I believe the reason give was for "contractual reasons." Guess the big boys couldn't resolve their difference quick enough for the release date.
