Dear Australian colleagues. Have you noted the terrible picture quality of the LG film-ad we are currently screening.
The picture is fuzzy, blurry and strobes, the only sharp sequence being the LG logo at the end.
Naturally the audience must think the projectionist is unable to focus, this film-ad is annoying to me as a professional projectionist.
Also note the mobile phone featured, a barely readable quickly appearing disclaimer says the phone is not available in Australia!!!!!!! Ridiculous.
Val Morgan, do us all a favour, recall this blurry abomination and give us a clear properly produced print that advertises the product well, and does not compromise my/our professional ability as projectionists.

Yeah, we are screening the same AD, it is quite bad!
I believe it's the TV version 4:3, blown up for widescreen cinema release, it's killed any quality that might of been there in the beginning.

We recently had an NCN ad for the E.T. DVD. Instead of showing 35mm source footage in the ad, I guess they just transfered the DVD material back to 35mm and it ended up looking horrible. What made it worse was the voice over that was saying "newly remastered digital effects..."

Ugggh. How embarassing.

I totally agree with your comments John. We are also currently running the LG film ad. If Val Morgan are pushing for excellence in presentation (ie, their currect presentation competition), then they should at least supply us with material, that we can at least focus!

Ciao,

Erik

John,

I hate the 'Red Bull' series of ads. Pure white ads that seem to highlight every fleck of dust. Haven't acquired the LG ad, but in no rush too by the sounds of it. [Frown]
