Matthew, The Simplex X-L has a built in oil pump, and it is the only one that comes to mind that does, there may be others that I've yet to see. All other machnes are either totally submerged...Pro 35, Christie Ultramittent...or force fed, Norelco DP-70, Bauer U-2, Kalee 21, Brenkert....etc. Movements such as Century, Super Simplex, E-7, and Standard are splash lubricated, these only contain about 2 to 3 ounces of oil. The Motiograph and some of the very old macines were grease lubricated.
My preference has always been force fed as one can remove the movement without draining all the oil in the machine out such as you have to do in a Ballantyne. Mark @ CLACO
