I've been seeing a few postings lately about defective DTS discs for new movies. I've asked several people to send me their discs back (with me sending a replacment set) to DTS for evaluation but so far no one wants to help. So, I am asking any theater that has a bad disc from a new movie such as PIGLET to please send me an email so that I can send you a new disc and get your bad disc for evaluation. I am only interested in getting back known defective discs.

Thanks,

Karen at DTS

Karen,

I have a bad disc to Old School. It affects reel 5. I also have/had (I think I tossed them) bad discs to Life of David Gale. One disc A had a defective R1, the other had a defective R2. Both B discs were fine. I just burned a compilation of the two good R1+R2 onto a cdrom and all was fine.

If I can find that Old School disc (it may have been thrown away since it was defective) I will send it to you. What's the address?

I've had a couple of problems with Cody Banks and Tears of the Sun. They both were locking up my DTS 6D player in mid-show. Although I could never isolate where the lockup was occuring. I thought maybe the drives needed cleaning. But we now have Dreamcatcher in that house, and it's been running like a champ since opening day.

Karen, if you want, let me know an address, and I'll send these back to you. I'm not sure what the problem was with them... or IF the problem was with the disks. But I can tell you that the player was locked up hard. The CD drive light was on solid, the system light was on solid, and the time code light was on solid. A power cycle on the unit brought it right back. This didn't happen for every show, but almost. And like I said, Dreamcatcher seems fine, so I don't think it was the unit.
