When using AUX inputs on the CP55, are the audio signals for L,C,R, and Surround equalized within the system before they output. Basically, do AUX sound sources get the same treatment as an optical film sound source. Also, would the system "create" a subwoofer channel from the AUX inputs?

Also, what about the L and R Non-Sync inputs. Are these signals send throught the matrix card to derive the L,C,R,S and subwoofer channels? Also, is non-sync music equalized in the CP55?

HI -

The AUX inputs go straight to the format switch - these are designed to be 300mV and are used for SRD. You can also use the mag inputs however you need to remove 3 or 4 caps on the 242 card which are designed to reduce the hiss on MAG. The NS inputs are fed to the 150 for martixing to achieve NON SYNC in surround when selected using a Cat241 or 441. No centre channel here - otherwise I think the surround output is thru the normal matrix.

All signals for all channels go through the Cat64 eq cards and if fitted the 241 / 441 surround / sub card.

To get sub the Cat241 looks at LtRt off the Cat222. You'd be bypassing this - I'd suggest feeding it into the Digital sub input via TB18 pin 14 - you'd need to put the signals thru a resistor matrix or similarly isolate them to prevent the introduction of X talk. Really you should feed centre there too, although you'd need to play and check levels..

You can matrix non sync by modifying the unit as if it has a SRA5 and feeding non sync into the LtRt

Good luck !

Peter
