Hello everyone first of all I love the site im always here checking stuff out. I have a question, we have a christie AW3 make up table with a side arm that controls the motor speed. I called christie about a problem with the run/brake switch going bad and have it fixed for the most part except the arm in its resting postion runs the motor at full speed instead of no speed at all. Its backwards. anyhelp such as where the wires go on that run/brake switch would be greatly appreciated. Note this is not a drive belt make up table which christie swears they have never heard of but its basicly a platter motor with a shaft. Thanks

I've never seen an AW3 MUT without a drivebelt system...Let alone a platter motor on it...
Good luck is all I can say.

The VERY EARLY Christie AW3 MUTs had a reel shaft that was direct-driven by a Bodine platter motor, and instead of the ubiquitous MUT speed control with the round circuit board, it had two AW3 platter speed control cards that plugged into sockets in a compartment behind the control knob and switches.

We have a semi-functioning one (works one way but not the other) in Fairfax, I can get some pics if you want me to.

Yes it is the direct drivin I called Christie Digital reguarding a replacement brake/run switch and they thought that this was a joke they swear they never made one but Im glad i have someone to confide in does anyone know where to get such a switch it was 12 contacts on the back with on off on. I have it wired now with 2 seperate toggles back it doesnt run quite right. If it is possible it would be great to get a diagram or a listing of which wires go to which contacts on the switch. I obviously have something replaced causing the motor speed to operate backwards? Or could it be the motor control card? Any help would be greatfully appreciated I have pictures somewhere around here if it helps.

I'm trying to do some research on this MUT. Has anyone here had the opprotunity to work with this item for print builds and break downs?

What are your thoughts on it?

LIke most companies that from time to time clean house the folks that delt with that MUT have either moved on to other companies or died.

I've seen a couple of those over the years. Very long time ago. I sort of liked the roller arm control... you could use it as an emergency "platter" that way. If I remember correctly, the speed knob on the table actually controlled the platter, and the resulting raising or lowering of the MUT arm (as the platter fed film to/from it) controlled its motor in the requisite direction.
