After several unsuccessful attempts at trying to obtain a list from Sylvania Osram on abbreviations used on the XBO family of Xenons, I have compiled my own. If anyone knows of other suppliers abbreviations, or corrections on mine, do share!

XBO = product family
W = watts
H = high pressure / horizontal?
S = short
OFR = Ozone free
GS = gap shortened
C = cable
SHSC = super short
TP = threaded pin
CA = cable on anode base

Example: so if the bulb says "XBO 2000 W/HS OFR", then you have a 2000 watt high pressure XBO bulb that's short and ozone free.

The H means that the lamp is able to be mounted horizontally.

Another one for the list is BM which means "Base Modified" - eg: XBO 5000W/HBM OFR

We have the full list of codes at work (which I'm not currently at or I'd post them), so I'll add more if nobody else beats me to it... [Smile]

I am in the same boat as Andrew.

I have the complete Osram list of codes at work... I had a quick flick through the osram australia website, but they dont have the list readily accessible - you need to log in.

Are the codes usually the same between manufacturers? I know we have a few Christie bulbs and a few LTI bulbs floating around our building, but I haven't checked them since we mainly use Osram XBOs.

If you want to know it in all detail, XBO stands for Xenon Bogenlampe, and that means arc lamp.

ja, ich liebe die bogenlampe [Cool]

I searched on the Osram and Slyvania websites and couldn't find a way to describe the codes...hell it was hard enough to find info about their xenon bulbs...

Dean, that's where I looked first. No response from them via the website after a few emails.

OK, had a quick flick through the book. A few more that I could find that aren't covered here yet are:

TT = Two threaded pins
TC = Thread, cable
SA = Short arc

So along with BM, and an amendment to H, that list you originally posted is pretty complete. [Smile]
