Hi,
Just been reading through some of the posts, and just wondered what was the most bizarre complaint you'd ever had? We get the usual, it's too loud, it's too quiet. The curtains haven't opened (the translation being, the masking hasn’t opened, my response being. It's a wide-screen film, now go away....).
But my favourite has to be from a previous cinema I worked at. We used to do a senior season. On this particular occasion, we were playing 'The Madness of King George'. After the film and finished, and I was busy lacing up the next show, when an elderly lady approached one of our staff to say how much she enjoyed the film. But, next time, could you (the member of staff), please ask the projectionist (me), not to speed up the end credits as it totally ruined the film.
The member of staff tried to explain that all the projectors run at one speed, and that we have no fast forward button. She continued complaining on how she thought it was all disgusting, and then told the duty manager that ‘we’ as the cinema should write to the director and complain that he’d speeded up the credits.
We were eventually able to give her the address of the distributor, for her to complain herself. I’ve no idea if she did write and complain.
Have you heard anything more bizarre? I’d be interested to read any of your storied.
