I was playing 'Flags of our fathers' the other night and noticed about a quarter of the way through that the channel level meters on the front of our CP500 had frozen. Everything still sounded fine, so I figured I'd test it once everyone had left.

However - during the final reel, the sound went really quiet for about five seconds, and then went back to normal. When I went to check, the VU meters were working again.

Is this just a glitch, or symptomatic of something more serious?

While the 500 has always had funky VU meters that stick and indicate when there is nothing to indicate you may also want to check your software version to see whats in there. I can't remember seeing any VU meter problems with the latest version operating software.
