Anyone have any experience or comments on this unit? I picked it up for around $900.00 new. I havent had a chance to use it yet but its a hand held unit that includes a SPL and integrated average sound pressure level meter of wide band 1/3 octave values. A Polarity measurer, Delay time measurement between speakers, level and distortion measurements. I also bought the companion mic for the unit. The unit includes software and a cable to connect to a PC and an audio disc with test tones and pink, and white noise.

I was thinking this would be good to use as an SPL meter and to do quick checks to see if a room is close to ISO 2969 spec as its a handheld unit. I am no t looking to use this as my full time RTA or anything I just thought it woud be a neat addition to my aresenal.

Any thoughts, testimonials, or comments?

Michael, That link had nothing on it.

I eventually found it on the NTI site. Can't say too much except the mic is not very good.

Well... after firing this baby up it seems to have some promise I have just played around with it but the SPL Meter seems good. You can hook it up to your laptop and get a full view of the screen. It appears to have 1/1 octave and 1/3 octave RTA modes... I dont know how accurate it is because I havent had the opportunity to do any side by side tests. I am sure in the field this unit will have its limitations, and I wouldnt use it sd my sole RT. In my opinion for under a grand it aint a bad deal for SPL readings and a handheld 1/3 octave analyzer for quick checks. A Polarity checker and delay checker. I will update this thread when I get more experience with the unit.

As a side note I know some "Home Theatre" installers who swear by this unit for that application and it has a lot of other functions for that.

Mark, the idea behind "google" is that it finds the links for you. For instance, if you copy "NTI Acoustilyzer" from this page, paste it into the google window and click on "search", it comes back with a lot of relevant links within moments! I know it sounds like magic, but it really works, try it!

I am glad I could help you, Mark. There was nothing to "fall for", though. You said yourself that it took you a while to find the info ("eventually"):

But that's what we are here for - to help each other. Try google next time.
