I need (I think) the amplifier for this Component Engineering model MS-5R booth monitor. When I power it up it blows the speaker fuse. Maybe someone can tell me if that's probably the culprit.

The socket for that IC is a bigger problem than any part of that monitor... Remove the socket and solder a new IC right to the board... Ya have to bend the pins just right to do so but its not too hard. The pins are JUST long enough. They never fail after instaling that way....

This Sanyo IC amplifier is still listed at MCM Electronics for about $30 but is currently out of stock.

The military theaters actually used this amp for the single screen speaker (mono) back in the old days.

All of ours were soldered in and I never saw a failure. Some are still being used in South Korea.
