In the past two days, I've done both a press screening and a promotional screening sponsored by a local radio station of the new George Romero movie "Diary Of The Dead". Both screenings used the same print, and sound was run off the Dolby optical SR track. One show was run changeover, and one was run on platters.
The 'problem' is that during reel transitions, the last two seconds of dialogue or other sound on the outgoing reels, was repeated on the incoming reels. For example, if the last line of dialogue on reel one was "Don't go in there!" you heard the same line repeated when you switched over to reel two.
The following memo from the Weinstein company was included in the film cans:
However, the problem persists even if you follow these directions exactly or if you do the changeovers on the proper cue marks.
Has anyone else experienced this problem, or is it just my print? I do not know if the same problem occurs when using the digital or DTS sound tracks since I was not at a place where I could test them.
I don't have to deal with this print again, but I did put a note in the can to the next projectionist and faxed a report to the distributer. [ 02-15-2008, 10:06 AM: Message edited by: Jim Cassedy ]
