I need to buy some clear framing leader. I have never ordered any before so if anyone can send me a link to a website to buy it I would greatly appreciate it.

Welcome.

Though don't you have some sort of supply distributor? Going through whoever you normally get other supplies can sometimes be cheaper.

I prefer the leader made by NT Audio-Visual. The printing on it just seems to last much longer than the other leaders that are available available out there. I've seen many of their leaders last for close to a decade!

Wedont have a supplier as far as I know they haven't purchased anything for the booth in ages. The theater is only open April - October and they were closed for the last 2 years so I'm not sure but I don't think they purchased anything for awhile

If you ever get in a bind there is a way to make your own though it takes a lot of effort and is nowhere near as good as the real thing. Here's how though just for shits and giggles;

Take an old trailer and a bucket full of bleach.

Unravel old trailer into bucket of bleach and let it soak until all the dye's leach out of the film.

Rinse off the now clear polyestar film with clean water making sure to get all the bleach off and let dry.

Take a permanent marker and a ruler and make your own frame lines every 4 perforations.

When I have done this I have onle made lines for a few feet near one end, I use the competely clear part to thread from the platter to the machine and back and use the part with the frame lines just for threading. I also put an arrow ever few frames pointing towards the soundtrack side of the leader.

Like I said not the best, and takes some time. If your in a situation where you need new leader right away I have found it to be a good temporary solutiont though.

Hadden Theatre Supply, my ol' boss Louis Bornwasser's outfit, has the NT-Audio leaders. Fair prices, too.

Oh Sean you silly, silly boy. Your marks suck compared to mine. I built a marking machine out of an old Century SA. It's only about 3-4 frames a second, but it gets the job done overnight. [Big Grin] [Moon]
