Jack, your recommendation is very good, but really pricey. An average full length feature could cost around $15,000 to have a proper internegative made from a print, and then it probably wouldn't be really good. Prints, as I'm sure you know, aren't made for this purpose, and come out pretty contrasty. Also, the sound would need to be transferred separately. Just because a print has some vinegar, there's no reason it can't be telecine'd successfully. If it's so far gone it is badly warped, that's another story.
