Did the fader work and then stop working at some point, or did it ever work?

What are you using for a fader control? A 100 K Ohm potentiometer?

More information please.

The CP50 was designed to go into existing stereo sound systems of the 1970's that already had mechanical, multi-channel fader. Ampex, Century, Simplex, Altec, and Norelco all had these.

It quickly became apparent that these were being installed in new cinemas and to replace existing mono sound systems.

The CP55 followed soon after in the early 1980's with many more features.
