I'm a little confused by the surround capabilities of the USL JS105-195.

On the EXT/MAG inputs, there are Surround Left and Surround Right inputs. Surround Left is also marked as the mono surround input. There is a JSE-05 surround EQ card installed. According to the DTS manual, when using a JSE-05, I need to attach a jumper between pins 19 & 20 on the backplane for the surround eq slot. DTS says this is necessary to "enable the right surround channel".

Question: What exactly am I enabling? After I solder the jumper on, should I expect stereo surrounds? Or, are the discrete right and left being summed and then sent out each of the surround channels -- effectively, mono surround?

Hello David, this question i made a lot of times and i see that a Stereo Surround Equalizer will be added to the JS 105/195 processor, there are the JSS05 card for Stereo Surrounds and the standard JSE 05 or JSE 05 for Mono surround, here have pictures of the differences of the cards, i wait that this information will work,

Martin

Martin,

Thanks for the reply. That answers the question.

I still wonder why, in the DTS manual, they instruct you to jumper 19 & 20 even with a JSE-05 (mono card).

I'll have to send a message to DTS today.

Thanks again,

David

The stereo surround card pictured is in fact one that plugs inot the L and R eq slot for a theatre that was doing centre and 2 surround channels
for 5.1 the card is identicale in size to the mono surround card and contains 2 Eq sections
