When powering up, the Cat673 card shows a "b" before "-". According to the DA20 manual, this indicates that the "system is loading its baseline code" and that "if resetting does not cure the problem, the unit must be repaired." What exactly does this mean? Is it the Cat673 itself that needs repair?

Tom, is the unit having any other issues? If not, you are concerned about nothing.

If you read the rest of the manual, you'll see that when starting up it will flash a "b" then a few other things before settling into the "-" which is what you'll see until a valid DD track is read.

Now if the DA-20 hangs up with a "b" in the display it means the baseline code is corrupted and a reset or eeprom flash will be needed.
