Hi,

I am looking for a good theatre that can screen a 35mm anamorphic print on a flat white (no gain) screen.

I do not want to view on a silver screen or a +Gain screen.

The theatre must have decent surround sound and be well maintained for stability and provide a sharp well and even anamorphic projection.

Please let me know of any recommendations.
Many thanks
Adrian Hauser

Try the Chauvel Cinema in Paddington, if that's central enough for you. It's been a while so I won't say for sure, but I think they have a matte white screen.

You should enquire at Film Australia in Lindfield. Having been a film production facility, they may still have 35mm projection, and some concept of standard screen luminance. Check also the preview facilities at Fox studios, and Deluxe labs. You are not likely to find a commercial site which can guarantee anything like optimum film viewing conditions.

Thanks, for the tips.
We tried at Fox but they have a silver screen with a massive hot spot measuring 38FL ! falling off to 5FL on the edges. Also tried at Opera Dendy which wasnt bad but a + gain screen as well which had some discoloration in the falloff.
We do already have decent 35mm mute projection at our facility so not I'm really keen to use another production facility.
Im really just fishing to see whats still out there for the few remaining productions we have going through with film deliverables. A decent well maintained projection on a flat white screen with great sound would be grand.

Keep the recommendations coming in.

I check out the Chauvel on the weekend.
Thanks,
Adrian
