Email from Technicolor just received:

Dear Exhibitor,

As you are fully aware, there has been a major shift from 35mm film to digital cinema over the past few years. As your partner in exhibition, Technicolor has been striving to make this transition as simple, efficient, and cost effective as possible.

Unfortunately, as the overall costs to support 35mm prints continue to increase throughout the industry, it has become necessary for Technicolor to increase film delivery rates.

As of January 1st, 2015, all theatre 35mm film shipping charges will increase $5.00 per shipment, to $30.00 per print for both film deliveries and pick-ups.

There will be no change to the delivery and pick-up charges for your digital print deliveries.

As a distribution company, we will continue to rely on our primary freight providers, UPS and Sky Courier (DHL Same Day), to transport your feature films in a timely and secure manner.

We are as determined as ever to provide you and your theatres the professional service and support that you have come to expect from Technicolor.

Please feel free to call with any questions or concerns.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation throughout the years.

Sincerely,

Technicolor Cinema Distribution

A 20% increase - quite a bit!

When's the last time they raised it?

$30 is nothing compared to "classic" films which several of the distribs insist on overnighting from LA. Often over $100 each way.

Do they charge $30 each way, or do you pay one $30 per print?
