I just watched "BELLA MARTHA", a very delightful film from Germany tonight on a brand new DVD that was just released. With food preperation as it's theme like "EAT, DRINK, MEN, WOMEN", "CHOCOLAT" and "BARBETTE's FEAST", the story delt with a higly skilled female chef who had to deal with the tragic death of her sister and the responsibility of caring for her eight year old daughter until the little girl's Italian father can be found. In addition to taking care of her neice, Martha must also cope with the fact that she has to work with a highly skilled Italian chef her employer hired to work along side her. At first Martha is suspecious of Mario's intentions but soon learn that he has a special recipe for living and one that will touch her home and heart. In addition to a very heart warming story and seeing mouth watering food being prepared, the film's 5.1 Dolby Digital sound track is very lush with a beautiful score and a lot of popular songs. The soundtrack makes very little use of the surrounds but the front soundfield is very active especially with the film's music. The movie is in German with English subtitles.
