What the hell kind of accent was Ewan McGregor supposed to be doing? I've never heard anything like it in the southeast US or anywhere else in the world. Weirdest & most distracting were the long A's & I's that sounded like a drunken Bostonian. Yet another reminder of why I avoid movies that lean on regional US accents. Albert Finney did a good job, though.

The credits said it was filmed around Montgomery, Alabama - obviously about the dead of wintertime, or there would have been no scenery but kudzu. Will there never be a movie with good kudzu or New Orleans accents?

This is a Tim Burton movie, start with that. His accent, while not accurate...is great for the role. I'm sure it was done on purpose. Also, it was filmed in dead-winter b/c in many scenes you can see them breathing
