This was shown last weekend at Wizard World Chicago, and I was fortunate enough to see it.
It's basically Batman's equivalent of THE ANIMATRIX, with six interlocking short films, all by different writers and directors, bridging the gap between BATMAN BEGINS and THE DARK KNIGHT.
As expected, the overall piece is inconsistent. Of the six chapters, I'd say three are good. But those three are good enough to justify watching this thing.
While not at all essential prior to viewing THE DARK KNIGHT, GOTHAM KNIGHT seems to do a good job of showing how the world has changed since Batman's arrival. It also acts as a sort of primer for THE DARK KNIGHT. I think it helps to put the viewer into the right frame of mind for the new movie.
On the whole, not as good as it should've been, but still interesting enough to watch.
