Argh, it seems season 2 of Star Trek won't play on the Panasonic DMP-BD10A [Mad] . I've exchanged the set a couple times now and none of them work. Some searching on google later and it seems to be a known issue and the possible cause is the internet features (which really pisses me off to no end as I don't care about that and have no intention of connecting my player to the internet even if I could.) What happens is the main menu comes up fine, but when you go to play an episode the menu items disappear and you're left with nothing but the animated background that just continues to loop infinitely (the episode never actually starts).

Anyone tried this set on a Playstation 3 yet? I'm planning on buying one sometime in 2010, and am hoping it works! I'm also curious if anyone else has encountered this problem on another player and if you have a profile 1.0,1.1, or 2.0 player. I'm not sure yet if this is a Panasonic specific issue or many/all old players. This is this the first time I've ran into an issue with having an older profile 1.0 player...

I've had that problem with afew titles from Paramount and Sony/Columbia. The Paramount problem was last year on four titles. The Sony was two catalog titles this year. It does everything you just said. I have two Blu-ray players a Sony and a Panasonic. The above problem happens only on the Sony. The Panasonic loads like a dream with no problems. It's a problem with the BD-Live feature on older generation decks.
I never had this many problems with HD-DVD discs.

Try downloading the new firmware. All the Blu Ray titles I buy come with a warning card that says:

quote:
Although this Blu-ray disc has been manufactured to the highest quality standards, it is possible that it was manufactured after your Blu-ray dic player. To ensure the best possible viewing experience, your player may require an update.

Please visit www.blu-raydisc.com/forbestresults for links to player features, updates and disc information. If an update is available, simply follow the manufacturer's installation guide to complete the process, or contact the manufacturer's information center for curther assistance.

I'm already on the latest version of firmware available for this player; I'm hoping maybe they'll release another update, but as the latest is over a year old now I'm not expecting much.
