I am a big fan of the movie "The Devil's Advocate" and the new blu-ray is getting great reviews as a much better than average quality catalog release. Unfortunately the "Unrated Director's Cut" is not quite that. From the early reviews it is apparent it has the altered footage eliminating the original sculpture in John Milton's apartment. If you aren't aware artist Frederick Hart sued Warner Brothers because it too closely resembled his sculpture "Ex Nihilo". As part of the settlement WB digitally altered all copies after the first VHS/LD/DVD release. I think the climax of the film loses a little of it's impact based on those changes. Since Hart died the year following the film's release you'd think WB could have worked a deal with his estate to release an un-altered version for this release. As a result I think calling this a "director's cut" is quite misleading. I'll stick with my DVD.
