The ShowManager software running on the ShowStore (DSS100) is not loading properly.

It hangs on the load screen and reads "Connecting to Server (Initializing) ... x minutes" where x is the number of minutes since I booted the system up.

The ShowPlayer (DSP100) can see, load, and playback content on the ShowStore, so I know that they are connected and communicating with one another.

Ideas?

ShowStore 2.6.11.2
ShowManager 3.2.11.4
ShowPlayer 3.0.5.5

Its possible that Show Manager has been misconfigured to be looking for a Show Manager Server (i.e. Dolby Show Library).

Run the CONFIG script and see what the Show Manager Server settings are. It should be something to the effect of "Show Manager runs on this device".

If you continue to have issues, PM me and I can try and help you further.

I've had a DSS100 go into a endless series of reboots (with red drive LEDs and all) due to a corrupt file. The solution was reloading the DSS100 software.

The config script is good.

quote:

Run Show Manager Server: yes
Run one or many Show Manager Servers: one
Auditorium: 1
NA10 present in this auditorium: no
DFC100 present in this auditorium: no
Language: English

When it boots up I noticed this line go by:
quote:
httpd: Could not deterine the server's fully qualified domain name, using 192.160.241.3 for ServerName
Could that have something to do with it?

Back in config, If I select manual configuration for the network, these are the current settings:
quote:

Configure Show Player Network Interface (auto)
Configure Auditorium Network Interface (auto)
Configure Theatre Network Interface (auto)
Configure the default gateway (none)
Configure the Show Player IP address (auto)
Configure NA10 IP address (auto)
Configure Projector DLP IP address (auto)
Configure CP650 IP address (auto)
Configure DMA8 or DMA8Plus IP address (auto)
Configure NTP Server IP address (auto)
Configure DFC100 IP address (auto)

I don't want to reload the software yet, as that will wipe out all the content as well.

Note, reloading the software did NOT wipe the content...just the KDMs.

Try updating to version 4.0 or 4.1. You should be able to download them via dolbysecure.com if you have an account. Just don't install 4.1.2. I guess Dolby has been having problems with 4.1.2 on the DSS100. If you perform an upgrade, only the kdm's are deleted as Steve stated.

Yup, make sure you either have the KDMs to ingest ro back them up via FTP before the update.

Is that IP address correct? That's a routable public address. Is there any chance the 160 should be 168?

Yes it should've been 168. Just a typo.

Why is any of this connected to the Internet? Do people surf the web on the POS system or something?

Remote monitoring/control, content ingestion, KDM ingestion, etc.

Like Brad said, it's for KDM ingestion down the road. It also allows me to monitor it from another computer in the building. The POS system is connected for online ticketing (we run our own back end for that instead of using fandango).

I'm going to try reloading the software this Friday. We have an active show on it now, so I don't want to toy with it until we are done with that show.

Next time I'm at the theater I'll double check the IP. I probably scribled it down wrong.
