Sorry for a newbie question.

When you receive all your trailers and commercials to build before a feature---are these all the same colorspace?
Do you just assign the appropriate colorspace and the Projector displays correctly.
Are commercials delivered at HD Rec 709 colorspace and the feature film DCI-P3 space?

Thanks,
Tom

All content for mainstream theatres delivered in a DCP format is supposed to by to DCI compliant color space, NOT REC-709. 2D stuff is supposed to be played in an DCDM XYZ color space with 4:4:4 color depth.

The only time REC 709 (the HDTV color space in component...digital or analog) is when alternative content is used...including when most external scalers come into play. Furthermore, the gamma for REC 709 is not the DCI norm of 2.6...instead it is akin to 2.2-2.35 (depending on who declares it to "look right"). Most projectors DCinema projectors come set to 2.3 or 2.35 gamma when the HDTV (REC 709) PCF is selcted...those selecting it themselves without the aid of a PCF, have to remember to also adjust the Gamma too.

Not exactly true - there are still movies being distributed in MPEG-2 interop format as DCP. They use RGB colorspace. Prominent example over here was 'The Kings Speech'.
