The brand-new trailer 6 for "The Muppets" is an ad for "Muppets at Midnight at an AMC Theatre Near You." But it's not labeled as such on the hard drive.

Thanks for the info Mike. I was going to replace the Muppets trailer on Happy Feet and Puss in Boots with the new one.

I did do that! Didn't have time to pre-screen the trailer - it literally finished ingesting about a minute before showtime.

By the way the 3-D trailer for "Titanic" looks pretty good. The 3-D "Beauty and the Beast" is underwhelming compared to "The Lion King."

I never understood that. Why stop promoting a movie when it opens? In a multi-plex, cross-promotion should happen. If I had more than one screen I'd definitely play trailers for other films I was playing, especially those movies that need a little 'extra' promo.

Mike, I agree with you for the most part. However, we try to limit our trailers to no more than 10 minutes and I would rather use that time for something that won't be gone in a week or two. But I almost always cross promote things like the limited Oscar contenders which people either don't know about, or may not know we're playing.

It could be that it's not in the contract with the studios to play "now showing" trailers, but just play the assigned future content.

Some circuits are pretty strict with this...

..but, do agree with you since I've done it in the past rearranging the trailer pak to have the "now showings" play right before the feature..

It's also interesting since that trailer was sent to AMC theaters on a thumb drive labeled as being for AMC... but of course the file itself was called MUPPETS-TLR-6 or something similar...

Right - the only clue that it was AMC content is in the paperwork, but even there the only mention of AMC is in the "comments."

I do wish Technicolor would put a "what's new this week" list in the Trail Mix paperwork.

In the film days, I'd remove trailers if the movie said "Coming Soon" or had the release date on it after the movie had come out. If it didn't have any of that I'd leave it on as long as that movie was playing. I've known some people who were so lazy that they'd leave on trailers for movies that had come and gone!

In the film days here, Carmike was notorious for playing trailers for weeks after the film was gone.

My trailer drive clearly says "The-Muppets_AMC" for that trailer, just as it clearly says "AMC_Woman-In-Red" for some other AMC promotion. Guess we all do get the same content.

Didn't they do an earlier trailer for AMC though? Maybe you're thinking of that one. Or else they got complaints and changed it mid-stream maybe?

Trailer 6 is labeled as:
MUPPETS_TLR-6_S_EN-XX_US-GB_51_2K_DI_20111111_TDC

Unless you read the Trail Mix paperwork (who does that?) you don't see anything about AMC.

The previous item, which is a Policy trailer, is labeled as:
MUPPETS-AMC_POL-1_S_EN-XX_US_51_2K_DI_20110921_TDC

You missed what I was saying.

AMC theaters got a usb stick that had the trailer in scope/flat. So it seemed slightly surprising to put it on the mix period...
