Thanks to David Bordwell for finding these
If you haven't seen Disney's training videos for how to run a DCI system, you owe it to yourself to check them out here:

Jenn, these are absolutely awful and damn near useless. People owe it to themselves to PRETEND THESE DO NOT EXIST.

INGESTING VIDEO
"The first thing you'll need is a projectionist!"
People, this is 2012. We can do things like turn on the heater at our houses from our phones. There is no reason to have a system that needs somebody upstairs in this day and age. The DCS system doesn't!

"Open up your DCP. Inside you will find instructions from the studio."
Don't you mean open up your CASE that the HARD DRIVE containing the DCP was shipped in?

"This will tell you how much space you have remaining."
No it won't. It will tell you how much of the PERCENTAGE of space you have remaining. It won't in any way tell you if you have ENOUGH SPACE.

"daddy_day_camp"
Nice going Sony Pictures. Way to follow the DCP naming convention! (That's not the only one that failed, but that one didn't even make an attempt.)

"You should however spot check the ingest every 20 minutes to make sure everything is ok."
Thanks for telling the audience what to do if it ISN'T ok.

KDM VIDEO
"Double click the file and it should unzip the content to a new folder with the same name as the original file on the desktop."
Way to go Mr. Smarty Pants video director. Use an operating system that is least found in movie theaters with no mention of how to do it on a Windows computer, which is what the vast majority of theaters will be using.

"Insert your USB or cd directly into the server."
Ummmm, this is step 2. You said at the beginning of step 2 if the KDM arrived via cd to skip this entire step, so what's with the cd now?"

I know there are several more of these videos, but geez, does nobody proof them before they go online? And why is theater staff even having to mess with KDMs at all. The DCS system doesn't require it!

2012 folks.

Oh I get it. It's a paradoy.
Good job, Disney!

Pff...1000GB = 1TB. Sure! More like 1024GB == 1TB. Durp.

Looked like they ripped off Joe's advanced booth training seminar in the beginning...Guy eating a burger at the bench [Wink]

That's not how it works on Windows? You can't just double-click it?

That works to open it, but to unzip there's a lot of clicking involved. It's stupid.

You can actually drag it out of the WinZip folder onto the desktop, but there are many different un-zipping programs. The video didn't explain any server specifics, why would they show a computer and program specific procedure?

Windows' built-in un-zipping utility normally creates a new sub-folder within the same folder where the .ZIP file was stored. The unzipped content will go into the new sub-folder unless you tell the utility to save the unzipped content elsewhere. Unzipping a compressed file is not difficult regardless of whether you use a basic utility like that found in Windows or an after market app like WinZip or WinRAR.

IMHO, anyone using a computer ought to have a fundamental understanding of how directories work as well as many other tasks of file management. Unfortunately millions of computer users, even users in workplace environments, really don't understand how to manage files. It's a sad, disgusting situation.

True that. And they get annoyed when you try to explain it to them. I've got Users who if it's not on their desktop, they are lost. And these people run big institutions.

Disney? This from the guys who lost more world premieres (on digital) than all film based premieres in the history of film. Louis

Disney has this habit of building new stuff but not maintaining old stuff. Want proof, go to Disney World.
