does anyone have any specs or info on the imax digital sound system? i know that the system is made by yorkville and is powered by 4 modified yorkville ap 6040 stereo amplifiers which would lead me to believe that with the exception of the sub each speaker only requires one channel of amplification. I was also wandering what peoples take were on these speakers vs other high powered screen arrays such as the jbl 5732 or jbl 4732.

-Thanks

I heard that Imax speakers have passive crossovers, indeed.

You're correct about the channels. The last channel goes to the booth monitor, so it can be swapped in for one of the others if one fails.

My assistant went to screening of Dark Knight Rises at the Imax at the Warren in Moore Oklahoma and he said the sound was atrocious if any sound was going on in the surrounds you couldn't hear them talk.

He likes the way I have our houses set up on sound much better. I would guess they didn't eq the house right. No that is not a guess!

I frequent the 21st Warren IMAX quite a bit and I believe it has the same specs as the Morre IMAX. I've noticed that the high back chairs they have are so high that they block the path of the surround. Ive enjoyd the 3D there quite a bit but the last show I went to there, MI:4, the right surround had a slight rattle coming from around the cab that made itself clear on xtra loud surround effects. Warren Theaters has excellent presentation tho. Love the big curtain.
