Does anyone know if there's a forum or list somewhere that lists the upcoming 4K theatrical releases and if so could you please point me to it?

How about now? I can't find a good list for 4k movies like I can movies with Dolby Atmos, for example.

I don't think anyone has a comprehensive list on 4K movies. IMDb is hit or miss on its technical info. Not every movie gets its print info listed in this forum either, but at least the ones that do are accurate.

Not a complete or always 100% accurate list, but Sony keeps such a list.

I've noticed over the last month of so that more titles are 4K. In the past it has been almost exclusively Sony titles which were 4K. Looking at my current and recent content, the following titles are 4K: Annie, Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Interstellar, Night at the Museum, Unbroken.

Hard to say if this is just an anomaly, or if the studios are starting to release more 4K content. Generally I don't pay close attention since none of my projectors are 4K capable. However, I happened to notice the 4K icon on several GDC servers and took a closer look.

2015 and 2016 will see significant gains in 4k releases for two reasons. 1, pretty much everything is being shot on cameras with 4k+ sensors and 2, as the additional processing power on the post end drops at a rate fast enough that the post houses stop charging an EXTRA arm and leg for 4k content and finish.

But it's been nice to see more 4k DCPs come across my hands!

sure it's Sony ... again... but the critically acclaimed Russian movie 'Leviathan' it's DCP is 4K.

Consumer electronics is what will finally force Hollywood studios to standardize on 4K.

Ultra HDTV sets are now common in electronics stores and becoming increasingly affordable. They've gone through at least 2 or more product generations. More camcorder and DSLR models are available with 4K capability. GoPro cameras are incredibly popular and can do 4K. 4K is arguably the biggest thing being hyped at the Winter CES convention in Las Vegas.

As these 4K products replace previous product generations that topped out at 1080p, Hollywood studios' content will come off as cheap if a bunch of it is still freaking 2K.

Studios executives will keep producing movies in only 2K as long as they think they can get away with it. Camera technology and post production technology can handle 4K and even 6K with little trouble. But in spite of all those advances those 4K and 6K capable cameras all still have 2K and 1080p modes. Even if a post production suite can edit and finish 4K at a much faster rate now than a few years ago it's still going to be able to produce 2K much faster than that.
