I'm hearing from one theater that there is an audio sync problem on one particular showing of this movie in 2D. Other showings are fine. Has anyone had audio sync issues with this content? I'm trying to figure out if it's content or equipment related.

THANKS!

Harold

While not naming names, it was not a Dolby server. I'm just wondering if anyone else is having this issue with this content with any equipment. They tell me that rebooting the server fixes the problem. The problem only seems to be before the 8:15pm show. Apparently the playlist for that show is the same as any other. So, I don't know what's unique about that show. They're going to try the server reboot before the 8:15 show starts (instead of when the problem appears).

Thanks!

Nope, not in SLO. It's a service company that called us because we made the sound processor. I don't know how the processor could change sync delay for just this show, but don't know why the server would either. At least the server knows what time it is...

Thanks!

We had serious sync problems with Gatsby.Rebooting would fix it, but that's not an answer. They ended up replacing the server, which fixed the problem. Not Dolby.

Why not name the server? The server played up...they all do at some point. It's not the end of the world. This is a tech site after all.

See? The world didn't end.

Are we talking about ms, seconds, intermittent changes, stuttering ?

Maybe it's not the main feature but the preshow, or something at the end of the previous show.

Thanks for all the comments. At this point, I don't know how far out the sync is. Based on the comments thus far, it appears that the issue is not related to this particular feature (no one has reported the same issue on any server). The techs tell me that the playlist is the same for the show with lack of lip sync and the others, but, as has been pointed out, there COULD be something after the feature in the previous show causing the problem on the next show. I'll see if they can give me more details and do more experimenting today.

Again, thanks for the responses. It's great to have this resource available.

John, some companies (and many of us know who they are) threaten everyone with legal action if they dare to say anything that could be considered negative about their product. This is how they maintain some sort of good image in the market to unsuspecting buyers. Sounds like Harold has already been threatened.

No threats... The tech reported issues with particular content, so that's what I was checking in to. Since no one else had issues, it did not matter what server it was on. They have, by the way, resolved the problem. Though the playlists for the various showings were apparently the same, they removed a trailer running before the feature, and the problem went away. So, I still do not know precisely what the problem was, but it's gone now (and it wasn't my product...).

THANKS for all the comments.

Might be interesting to get a hand on that specific trailer and have a look at the CPL or the MXF Files. Maybe some strange tracks/editing in there.

Went to see this at our local multiplex. Aside from the various presentation problems I did see some sound sync issues but only in specific parts of the film.

The ones I remember clearly were when admiral Marcus hails from the uber ship and part of the chase through san Francisco. Everything else seemed relatively in sync as far as I could tell.
