I'm trying to remote control a DCP2000 via VNC. I have installed the VNC server package per these instructions and rebooted. When I try to connect to the DCP2000's IP address using a VNC client, I get "The connection could not be made because the server actively refused it". I don't think it's a networking problem, because:
1. There is no router/firewall/DHCP server in the booth network - just a switch, with all the connected devices having static IPs configured on the devices themselves. 2. I can ping the DCP2000 and get a reply from the same computer that I'm trying to VNC it from. 3. The server can't actively refuse anything unless it's heard a request to refuse. 4. I can VNC the AP20 on the same network from the same computer and drive it OK (i.e. press buttons on the window and they work).
I can't find any obvious gotcha in the installation or user's manual, and the only other thing I can find online is this thread in French. If my schoolboy French is reading it correctly, the thread starter basically had the same problem as me (except that he was trying to VNC from an Ipad rather than, in my case, an Ubuntu laptop). The rest of the thread explored possible networking issues, and he ended up in the same place as me, i.e. able to communicate with the DCP2000 through his network, just not with VNC.
Any ideas? Many thanks in advance.
