I had a call the other night that a CP-65 was stuck in bypass and they had no sound. It turns out the 150 card went bad. I pulled it out and all was good. Since the 150 card is not needed for digital sound or non sync, should I just pull them out of all the units? Will this help the load on the transformers if removed, or will it cause any negative affects, or it really doesn't matter?

It's involved in the Non-Sync signal path, that much I do remember.

Anymore I'd have to dig out a dusty old book.

Its only used IF you are in 2:4 mode for Non-Sync or if you want "magic surrounds" to play from Stereo sources on normal 2-channel.

Otherwise, you can live without it.

I pulled everything up to the decoder in all Dolby, Panastereo and USL units. It also makes things easier going on the power supplies.
