Hi all,

Was updating an NC2000C and when the update finished it gave me this error, 191 Different Serial Number. What can cause this? Is there a solution? The serial in the projector (label) doesn't matched the one that appears in the DCC.

I had done this process of updating many times and is the first time it appeared. Thanks in advance.

Did you happen to change any of the TI boards at the same time? I have had serial number mismatches when changing out boards such as the CPU board, but never from simply applying software updates.

The serial number is stored on multiple boards, so if you only change one board at a time, the serial number gets written to the new board, but I cannot recall right now if this is an automatic or manual process...

Nothing, just the update.

I heard of that before but I do not know how that was resolved, sorry.

I had the same problem back in January, and Steve Guttag very kindly gave me the fix:

quote:
From the Update screen, in the lower right corner you'll see the "Others" button (you have the most current DCC so it should be there). The top choice is to fix the serial number box. You have to do this from STANDBY.
This was on a different model of NEC (NC3420S), but I'm guessing that you need to do the same thing here, even if the button you're looking for may be in a slightly different place in your version of DCC.

Yes, this happens if the CPU module has been changed. That's the very top module. I had one recently and the fix is very easy through DCC. It has something to do with Service Pack 4.216.

Early on in conversions I had an NC-2000 and an NC-3240 that had the exact same serial numbers on the side label of the projector. Couldn't log both on to the LMS because of the serial number issue. NEC and Wrong both claimed this was impossible. So I sent pictures and NEC (Not Wrong) sent a guy out with new labels and his laptop to fix it.

I know I am going to have another one to do in Wyoming in a couple weeks because we had to change out a CPU board in one projector there during the install.
