A fellow tech experienced a power supply (circuit) breakdown on an IMS1000. Now, the only 'detachable' module on the IMS1000 seems to be the RAID card (and that's probably the reason that RAID card is the only spare part in Dolbys pricelist for the IMS1000). Does anyone know wether they offer to repair these? The IMS1000 itself was a bad decision (I strongly advised against it when he asked me about it a few months ago), but still hard to believe an 8000US$ device is not repairable.

Theaters should be required to smash every single IMS with a sledge hammer! The most awful of the awful!

Well, there isn't really a power supply on the IMS, it gets power from the projector. I guess you mean the power regulator section or similar. Does the IMS put the SMS and the IMB on the same board?

The exploded (cheers Mark!) view in the training material shows it is a single board, with only the RAID card, boot-flashdisc and hard drives being detachable. So it's all SMD stepdown-regulators on the mainboard creating the necessary voltages from the projector slot supply. And it's not easy SMD stuff, but the 'state-of-the-art' type that needs expensive special tools.

Just wondering wether anyone dealt with Doremi directly regarding possible repairs.
