You just want to have just the sound in HDMI? Or will there also be an image component elsewhere?

And what channels do you want to put into the HDMI signal? Just a single AES3 channel, the 5.1 channel mix, the 7.1 channel mix or all the channels?

Also, how do you want them to be muxed into HDMI? As LPCM channels I suppose?

I think there is still only this one (for multichannel):

But it is expensive, you may just as well buy a standard cinema audio processor (at least second hand), or a suitable 6/8ch DAC. I assume you want to use an HDMI/home cinema surround amp with a DCI server?

If that is the object of the exercise and the consumer surround amp has 5.1 or 7.1 analog inputs, a used Dolby DMA8+ is an option. They can be bought pretty cheaply now, and have touch-of-a-button ProLogic decoding, too (not that this should be an issue with DCP audio).

The only gotcha is that you'd need to make, or have made for you, a DB25 to 6x or 8x RCA breakout cable.
