Hello,

I am trying to understand Laser hazzard distances when using laser phosphorus projectors. I have a dual purpose theater that shows feature films and has live performances. The live performances sometimes use video projections.

The projector is about 40' in front of the stage and 12' above the audience. Do I need to be concerned with a performer on stage looking into the lens and experiencing eye damage? The projector would be in the 12K lumen range.

Thanks in advance,
Steve

Projectors fall into different Risk Groups depending on their brightness.

I believe around 10K Lumens is where the break point is between whether or not you require a marked or sectioned off hazard zone.

In Christie manuals, they lay out the distance of the zone and list how it changes depending on the lens you are using. Typically it is not more than a couple of meters in front of the lens.

Take a look at the manual for your unit or try a similar output Christie manual for comparison.
