*** Trade Screening ***

Reels: 5
Sound: SRD / DTS (No Disks) / SDDS
Format: SCOPE
Distributor: Buena Vista
Depot: Technicolor

Trailer:
Princess Diaries (Attached)

Interesting fact was the Blue Band was at the start of Reel 1 rather than after the credits.

Print is also in EX.

On the print that we received, the princess diaries was faded. Also reel #5 was scratched all the way through (nonemulsion). Way to go Technicolor. Hopefully Disney will do something about it. It was a brand new print.

If the film is Kodak, fading on a new print would be almost unheard of, even if processed incorrectly. Maybe the printer color balance was way off? What color was the fading? Do you have the magenta edgeprint ID from the "faded" trailer?

John,
It was really dark all the way through and it was like this all the way through the rating band that Paul was talking about. I will look at the id # for the trailer when I go in to work tommorow. Also when we screened it we played it in SDDS and it was kicking in and out during this trailer. We played it in SRD for the trade screening today and it did the same thing.

"Really Dark" is not fading. Likely a printer problem, or perhaps the print stopped in the developer with a machine problem, and got over-developed in the processing. The other possibility is that the unprocessed film got accidently fogged by light. Did the "darkness" go across the entire frame, including edges and soundtracks?

John,
It was dark all the way through out. I almost thought they had not put the SDDS track on the print and just colored it green. The trailer id was 2 and print technicolor # was 16

I suspect fogging from excessive exposure to the darkroom "safelights" --- the dark orange safelights produce a blue or cyan colored fog.

Our print was as described.

The "Cats and Dogs" trailer was enclosed. (Odd for BV to be plugging a Warners title...)

We didn't get DTS disks, either...
