FAX FROM DELUXE

Dear Theatre Manager/Projectionist,

ATTENTION:
There is a unique situation with the TROPIC THUNDER feature, please note below information before you put together your feature prints.

TROPIC THUNDER is a “film within a film” themed movie. The actors are playing actors in a film. In keeping with that theme there are three fake trailers at the beginning of the film that are part of the feature. Please do not get confused and clip off these three “previews” as they are part of the film and help to establish the main characters.

You will notice that these “fake” trailers do not have MPAA rating bands because they are part of reel number one.

The Actual attached trailer on this film is EAGLE EYE and it does have an MPAA Green Band on the head of the trailer.

If you have any questions or are unclear at all please call Deluxe Film Services at 1-800-734-3969.

Thank you in advance for your assistance and we ask that you share this information with your whole team in case there is any confusion on the part of the film goers as well.

Those silly guys at Deluxe, they always have to explain to the booth clowns on how to properly build a movie. Kind of reminds me when WB had to explain how to check if Sex and the City is properly framed.

and these are the same people that can't splice a trailer on correctly.

People complain when there is no communication, and people complain if there is communication. I guess they just can't win.

Many times these notes from DFS/TES are from requests from the film makers/studios, because during pre-release screenings there has been problems that have happened. Most of the times its how to handle fade-outs and fade-ins. So these notes are from the studios at the request of the film makers and they have been sent on many films over the years.

Similar notes were included with "Grindhouse" and the 'fake' trailers that were on that feature.

...and that's the very last time 'Tropic Thunder' is mentioned as a comparison to 'Grindhouse', I'm sure.

I think it would be far more fun to intermix these between the real trailers within the trailer pack, then run the theater's policy trailer/sound logo, then the feature.

EDIT to say nevermind. My print just didn't have the attached & I panicked that they'd hidden it somewhere. Sorry; would have deleted this post if I knew how & wasn't in a hurry.
