aka Das weisse Band - Eine deutsche Kindergeschichte

8 reels
Sony Classics
DFS
TCS - Montreal
SR/SR-D (cyan)
flat 1.85 (hard matte)
Kodak 2383
144 min

- German with English subtitles (printed)
- the feature is on color stock but seems to be entirely in black and white
- has DTS track but no disks came in the cans

Some prints must be on B&W film stock, because the following notice was in the can:

SONY PICTURE CLASSICS

PROJECTION NOTICE for THE WHITE RIBBON:

Since THE WHITE RIBBON is on black and white stock it is strongly recommended that you take a few steps to prevent excessive jitter in the film gate.

- Be sure that the entire film path is clean and free of emulsion build-up or any other debris.

- Gate Tension: with film running, set tension to the lowest level and gradually tighten ONLY until the image stops jumping. DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN

- Lubrication: Apply a film lubricant such as Film-Guard or Xecote to the gate rails and bands and to the intermittent shoe.

- Be sure to check the focus after the previews (if any) and feature presentation tags go through.

>CHECK YOUR REEL 8's CAREFULLY<
I have received TWO new prints of this film and both of them
have the last reel (Reel 8) printed 1/2 sprocket hole out
of registration, making it impossible to to make a properly
framed splice between reels 7 & 8. Until they can find me
a good print or reel, it's necessary to run up and re-frame
the print for reel 8 on every show.

FYI> These prints were on Black & White Stock

My print was on B/W stock and looked great!
