We are projecting our 35mm prints in 1.66 as most of the film was shot using 16mm cameras and it was printed onto 35mm with an open-matte allowing us to be able to not crop as much. We also, however, screened a print in 1.85 which didn't look 'bad' but ultimately decided 1.66 looked much better.

We are not playing a DCP at my location but I've heard that it also has a 'square' ratio so when you play it in 1.85 it is actually pillar-boxed so the aspect is correct on screen.

For what it's worth, I hope you have a good run with this film [Smile]

Confirmed, the DCP version is 1.66:1 inside a 1.85:1 frame (pillar-boxed).

The version we screened recently was stereo, left and right only.

NOTE in can:
PROJECTIONIST:
Please note that the correct aspect ratio for BLUE VALENTINE is 1.66

Please make necessary adjustments to ensure the best possible presentation of this feature.

Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter.
