Played by me at the Aero Theater, Santa Monica, May 26, 2014

Distributor = Universal
35mm print = #1
6 reels (5 A&Bs, 6 is a 10-minute A reel only)
Acetate, b/w, Eastman Kodak 1997 stock
1.37:1
Mono (variable density)

Very scratchy and dirty, and extremely so in the first and last 20-40 seconds of each reel. It's been "made up" for long play many times, with all the heads and tails cut (apart from the head of 1 and the tail of 6, obviously), including ID splices. Some of the leaders are replacements. There are also a few sections with slight edge damage, probably caused by careless rewinding. Even towards the middle of the reels, there is enough dirt and sparkle to be distracting. The stock is starting to shrink a little, but I couldn't smell any vinegar yet.

Photographically, it's crisp and sharp, and the audio isn't bad for VD either. There are cast credits at the end with cue marks for the close.
