After Mission to Mars, I thoroughly enjoyed myself watching Pitch Black. I'm not sure if that's a compliment or not. I think my only complaint would be that I was never really scared, but I was there for the sci-fi, not for wettin' me-self. As for the sci-fi, I was THERE... deserted on an unknown planet. Nothing is more important to a sci-fi film than convincing me that it's not fiction at all. Does anyone remember "The Black Hole"? I haven't seen it since grade-school, and I'm sure it's a horrible film, but I remember being absolutely amazed by it because it seemed so real to me then. I remember wondering if the actors had to go thru NASA training because I thought they actually filmed in space. But I digress. My point is this: Pitch Black may not be a good film or maybe it is... but since I enjoyed the ride, I'll remember it well.

Sorry, CGI just isn't scary. They might as well have been running from Roger Rabbit.

Excellent use of the Australian outback as the deserted and unknown planet though.
